Autumn View

11"x14" Acrylic on canvas
sold

I started this painted during the first day of Louise's workshop.  It was a chilly, windy autumnal day, so we stayed inside her studio to paint.  I like the abstract quality of the window on the right and the three little paintings on the left.

Flowers Outside The Music Room

20"x16" Oil on stretched canvas

I've been working on this on and off for a couple months now since completing "The Music Room" in February. I'm putting it up in our "Interior / Exterior" show which is going on now through June 28th at the Cold Spring Gallery in Belchertown.

Red Curtains

12"x9" Oil on canvas panel
sold

I painted this in Oakland at my friend Namie's place. Namie really fixed the place up - so much more jazzed up than when I lived there! I love these red curtains and the chandelier she installed.

San Francisco - Lauren's View

5"x7" Oil on clayboard

I had a wonderful trip to the Bay Area where I split my time between Oakland and San Francisco. I stayed with my friend, Lauren, while I was in the city. She has a great place on Alamo Square. Here is her view of some beautiful San Francisco Victorian homes outside her front windows. I tried to take advantage of my east coast internal clock and painted this one before going out for my morning coffee.

Holiday Gallery

16"x20" oil on stretched canvas

I painted this the week before Christmas while I was on staffing duty. I originally planned to add another layer of paint, however, being away from it for while, I don't think it needs it. Maybe I'll continue to work on it at some point, but it feels completed to me as is.

The Way Up

20" x 16" Acrylic on stretched canvas

This is an interior I did last spring. I'm looking forward to painting more interiors now that winter is upon us!

Red Chair

16" x 12" Acrylic on masonite

This is a painting I did about a year ago and I am very happy with the "Hopper-esque" feel of it. This actually started out as a still life of a tray table of apples. I got so involved with the space the little tray table and apples didn't even make it into the painting. I'm looking forward to painting more interiors this winter and I'm curious to see if I'm able to stay as expressive I was with "View from Sugarloaf."

Interior

6" x 8" acrylic/collage on canvas panel

Having recently moved across the country to western MA from the bay area, I've been exploring the themes of location, identity and "home" while we settle into our new environment.

Having recently moved to western MA from the San Francisco bay area, I've been exploring the themes of location/dislocation, identity and "home".

This painting was in the New Arts Program's "Invitational Salon of Small Works Exhibition" in Kutztown, PA which ran from May 25 - July 14, 2007.
